FIREMON: Fire Effects Monitoring and Inventory Protocol

FIREMON: Fire Effects Monitoring and Inventory Protocol

FIREMON: Fire Effects Monitoring and Inventory System is an agency independent plot level sampling system designed to characterize changes in ecosystem attributes over time. The system consists of a sampling strategy manual, standardized sampling methods, field forms, Access database, and a data analysis program. FIREMON is a desktop application created for computers running Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP operating systems. The system was developed by the U.S. Forest Service, Missoula Fire Sciences Laboratory in cooperation with the U.S. Geological Survey, National Park Service and Systems for Environmental Management. Funding was provided by the Joint Fire Science Program.

" I've been using FIREMON for several years now and have been extremely happy with the way it works and the ability to get consistent results from several different field crews. FIREMON is a great tool and I promote its use whenever possible." Peter Ohlson, Okanogan & Wenatchee National Forests, WA

" FIREMON was the best thing to come along and bring order to my chaos." Ros Wu, San Juan National Forest, CO

" Thanks for a very useful product. We have used FIREMON for two years now and like it." Scott Osborne, Fort Campbell, KY
